TORONTO, ON: Jasmine Pickel has joined the Canadian Taxpayers Federation as the Interim Ontario Communications Director. She will be the official Ontario spokesperson for the CTF for the next year, fighting for lower taxes, less waste and accountable government in the province.
“As the largest subnational debtor on the planet, Ontario’s government needs a major overhaul and Ontarians are tired of paying for government waste on their tax bill,” said Jasmine Pickel, the CTF’s new Interim Ontario Director. “The Ford government was elected with a strong mandate to clean up this mess. I look forward to holding this government to account on its promise to respect the taxpayers of Ontario.”
Jasmine Pickel brings personal experience as a business owner and entrepreneur. From growing up on a farm in southwestern Ontario to running a business on Toronto’s Bay Street, she has seen firsthand how government waste and high taxes have impacted Ontarians across the province.
“I worked hard to run a business in Ontario with a heavy tax burden for myself, my employees, and my business. It was unbearable to watch the government fritter away those hard-earned dollars so carelessly on countless examples of waste,” said Pickel. “No hard-working Ontarian should struggle to make ends meet while governments indulge at the taxpayer trough. It’s wasteful, it’s wrong, and I couldn’t be more determined to fight for change in this province.”
